Big
Woodland voter turnout results
in new mayor, councilmember
Woodland’s
mayor and a councilmember were ousted in heavy
voting last week, according to unofficial but final
ballot counting.
Fifty-one
percent of the city’s voters went to the polls, a
much heavier than usual showing and in higher
numbers than elsewhere in the state.
Mayor
Jim Graham,
who received 428 votes, was beaten by newcomer
Douglas A. Monge,
who received 472 votes.
Another
newcomer, Chris
Haugee, who got 483 votes, defeated incumbent
Darrel E. Maunu,
received got 378 votes.
Brewery, 2
wineries, 11 eateries producing premier chamber
business after-hours event
Billed as the
Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce premier event,
Savor the Flavor, hosted by the chamber’s board of
directors is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in
the Heathman Lodge.
A silent
auction is also part of the business-after-hours
event.
Tickets are
$15 per person, and pre-registration is recommended.

Bill Fromhold,
49th District Democratic state representative and
vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee, is
the recipient of three diverse honors for his
achievements during the 2003 legislative session.
The Columbia River Economic Development Association
presented Fromhold with its 2003 Economic
Development Award. The Washington State Skills
Centers organization selected Fromhold for its 2003
Legislator of the Year Award. The Washington State
School Retirees Association named Fromhold winner of
its Legislative Excellence Award for 2003.
