Rotary’s
Festival of Trees grows
into several holiday season events
The Vancouver
Rotary Foundation’s annual Festival of Trees has
grown into a post-Thanksgiving Day three-day holiday
program of several separate events, beginning at 9
a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, with the actual Festival of
Trees in the Red Lion Hotel at the Quay.
Viewing of
scores of decorated trees and wreaths continues to
10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov.
29, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30. Adult
tickets are $3.
Vancouver’s
annual Christmas tree lighting in Esther Short Park
is Friday at 6 p.m.
The
festival’s Teddy Bear Tea is from 9 a.m. to noon
Saturday, in the Red Lion Hotel at the Quay
Centennial Room. Admission is $3.
The gala
event of the festival is a black-tie dinner at the
Quay from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday and includes both a
silent and oral auction of Christmas decorated
objects. Admission is $100 per person.
The
festival’s senior tea, also at the Red Lion Hotel at
the Quay, is 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5
each.

Evergreen
board seeking voter input on four-year planning with
two meetings this week
The Evergreen
School District’s board of directors is holding two
community forums this week to begin collecting input
from voters to help prepare the district’s 2004-2007
strategic plan.
Community
forums in 2000 helped form what became the
district’s most successful expansion program. These
will be continued this year and will be augmented by
focus groups and surveys.
The first
session this week is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18,
in the Pacific Middle School student center, 2017 NE
172nd Avenue. The second is at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov.
21, in the Tan Complex of the district’s
administrative services center.
Library
trustees to discuss internet access
Fort
Vancouver Regional Library District trustees will
discuss changes in the district’s electronic
information access policy in a regular meeting at 7
p.m. tonight in the First & Clark Building, 606 NE
First Street, Battle Ground.
Trustees will
also hear a report on the district’s headquarters
and Vancouver Community Library building project.
“Politics of
Prescription Drugs” will be put under scrutiny at
Forum at the Library
The “Politics
of Prescription Drugs” will be discussed by a panel
of health experts at the 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20,
Forum at the Library in the Vancouver Community
Library Hall, 1007 E Mill Plain Boulevard.

Terry Metz
and Shannon Decker
have been promoted to assistant vice presidents at
First Independent Bank. Metz had been credit review
manager in the bank’s loan service center. He holds
a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University.
Decker, who had been a merchant services officer, is
a member of the Northwest Credit Card Association
and is an ambassador and new member mentor for the
Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, and a past
treasurer of People United for Animals.

5 p.m. today to discuss water and sewer rates. The
city council meets in regular session at 7 p.m.
tonight --- Clark Public Utilities’ commissioners
will discuss proposed budgets for the electric,
water and waste water utilities for 2004 in a
regular session at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18. ---
During their regular 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18,
meeting. Clark County commissioners will consider a
mutual aid agreement between the City of Camas and
the county Sheriff’s office to provide enhanced law
enforcement in unincorporated areas surrounding
Camas. At 2 p.m. commissioners will go back into
session to open bids for site preparation for county
fairgrounds improvements.
