Clark
planners look at comp plan update today; county
commissioners. tomorrow
Decisions on
how far Clark County cities can grow over the next
20 years are being made today as the county Planning
Commission holds what may be its final public
hearing on the county Comprehensive Growth
Management Plan update at 6 p.m., followed tomorrow
at 6:30 p.m., when the Board of County Commissioners
holds its first public hearing on update proposals.
The Planning
Commission’s recommendations will be forwarded to
the county commissioners, whose job is to make the
final decisions.
Maps
proposing the extent to which the cities of Battle
Ground, Camas, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver,
Washougal and Yacolt can grow over the next 20 years
will be ready for public viewing at 4 p.m. tomorrow,
in the Public Service Center.
The Planning
Commission today will also consider how the proposed
boundaries will be implemented. These elements
involve zoning ordinances, capital facilities plans,
and Environmental Impact Statements.
The county
commissioner’s hearing tomorrow will be the first
day of at least three days of hearings.
Testimony
will be encouraged from property owners, individual
members of the public and neighborhood associations.
The second
day of hearings is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday,
Dec. 8, at which time testimony from cities, school
districts and other governmental agencies is
encouraged.
The third day
of hearings is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, so
that additional testimony from any interested
parties will be considered.
Written
testimony also will be accepted and can be mailed to
the Board of Clark County Commissioners, P.O. Box

Cyrus G. Anderson,
who had been with Waddell and Reed Inc., is a

Elegant
event to benefit at-risk children
The
Children’s Trust Auxiliary’s annual holiday ball,
described as an “elegant event” by
Anne Digenis,
Community Foundation for Southwest Washington’s
program director, begins with a cocktail hour 6:30
p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in Royal Oaks Country Club.
Dinner is at

Dancing to the
Swingline Cubs continues to midnight.
Since its
founding in 1989, the Children’s Trust has awarded
$440,000 to local organizations that provide food,
clothing, medical and dental care, and support
programs to needy children in Clark County.

recently for their volunteer work with the Kaiser

The
Vancouver City Council meets in workshop session at
5 p.m. today to discuss the city’s Transportation
Taskforce recommendations. During a 6 p.m. consent
agenda session, the council is expected to give
preliminary approval to an ordinance updating
property maintenance codes covering such matters as
junk cars and overgrown shrubbery. --- Clark
Public Utilities’ commissioners will meet in regular
session at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, to hold a public
hearing on the proposed 2004 budget.

County commissioners will meet in regular session at
10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, and will re-convene at
6:30 p.m. the same day for the first day of public
hearings on proposed updates of the county
Comprehensive Growth Management Plan.--- The
annual Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Eve service
is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, in the Trinity
