Center names
Jennifer Packer has been appointed director of Emergency Services at Southwest Washington Medical Center. Packer will be in charge of the highest-volume emergency department in the Vancouver-Portland metropolitan area. The medical center’s department averages 78,000 patient visits each year. Packer comes to SWMC from Flagstaff Medical Center, Flagstaff, Ariz., where she worked for the past 16 years. She had been responsible for emergency services, pre-hospital care and Level 1 trauma services in Flagstaff. Vancouver Business Journal
For the fifth year the Vancouver Business Journal has honored business and community leaders under the age of 40. The 2006 accomplished and successful Clark County citizens are as follows: Jason Beatty, Deena Bisig, Chris Briggs, Kristi Cheery, Tim Cook, Amber Curtin, Stacy Frost, Kelly Holmes, Beth Holmes, Clarence Hughes, Michele Larsen, Dana Layon, Avaly Mobbs, Casey Moltrum, Trent Rehfeldt, Steve Stuart, Bryan Ward, Tyler Williams and Joe Winton. Mountain View High School Wind
The Mountain View High School Wind Ensemble is one of three high school bands that will perform during the three-day Western International Band Clinic at Sea-Tac on Friday, Nov. 17. The other two bands are from Langley, Va., and Japan. Mountain View’s high school band co-director Eric Smedsrud said competing bands went through a rigorous competition before being chosen. Band directors and student musicians from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan are participating. News brief Klineline Bridge, the highway bridge that carries Highway 99 traffic across Salmon Creek, will remain closed at least through Sunday, Nov. 12, according to Clark County Public Works program manager Carolyn Heniges. Continued high water is preventing crews from inspecting the base of the bridge, Heniges says. Bridge support piers were strengthened earlier this fall, but the repairs were not considered sufficient to allow use of the bridge during the recent flooding conditions on Salmon Creek.
