Memorial service for Nancy
Paulson A memorial service for Nancy Jo Paulson, who died with her family around her earlier this week at the age of 59, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, in the New Heights Church, 7913 NE 58th Avenue. Mrs. Paulson was born in Portland, May 4, 1947, was reared in Hoquiam and graduated from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1968, the same year that she married her best friend, Larry Paulson. In addition to Mr. Paulson, executive director of the Port of Vancouver, Mrs. Paulson is survived by three sons, Duke, Tacoma; Scott, Vancouver, and Bryce, Grand Rapids, her mother, Geraldine Semler, Gresham, and two sisters, Susan Paulson, who is married to Larry Paulson’s brother, Dick, Tualatin, and Julie Ueland, White Salmon. Remembrances may be sent to the New Heights Church or the Southwest Washington Medical Center Foundation. Nautilus donates $200,000 in
fitness Vancouver-based Nautilus, which provided all of the fitness equipment for the Firstenburg Center, the City of Vancouver’s newest community center, has announced a gift of $200,000 in fitness equipment for the Marshall Center, the city’s most used community center. The equipment will be in place when renovation of the Marshall Center is completed in September. Davis Judd, Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation director, said, “The donations are crucial to the maximization of our two community centers. The partnership we have with nautilus is an example of what the public and private sectors can do for a community by working together.” Bob Knight to deliver state Bob Knight, interim president of Clark College, will deliver the annual state of the college address at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Gaiser Hall on the college’s Fort Vancouver Way campus. InterACT to talk politics InterACT, the community forum where the audience is the panel, meets at noon, Thursday, Feb. 1, in the county commissioner’s board room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin Street, to discuss whether and how the November elections affect Clark County and whether accounts in the news media accurately reflect the election results and what the electorate had in mind when they voted. There is no charge. A lunch may be purchased beforehand in the Dragonfly Café on the first floor of the Public Service Center. Bank of Clark County Net profits for the eight-year-old Bank of Clark County rose 57.8 percent in 2006, to $5.048 million, reports bank president Mike Worthy. Worthy says that the bank’s assets continued to grow during the year, posting a 15.8 percent increase to $315.5 million. He says the bank’s loan portfolio grew by 19 percent during the year. News briefs Clark County Skills Center Restaurant is offering an Italian dinner, “An Italian Affair,” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26. Following antipasto, hearts of Romaine salad, is a linguini entrée plate that includes pressed sage chicken breast, Italian sausage with roasted red and yellow peppers, and roasted port loin stuffed with olive tapenade.
