Osprey coming and going from PDX during military training

Portland International Airport watchers may see a strange-looking V-22/Osprey taking off and landing vertically at PDX from time to time during the rest of the month as military training flights by the aircraft, which also flies horizontally, are conducted outside the Vancouver-Portland area.

Paddy Hough St. Paddy's Day Parade coming Friday

One of Uptown Vancouver's largest and most colorful parades, the annual Paddy Hough St. Paddy's Day Parade, is 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 16.

The parade route is from the Hough Elementary School, 1900 Daniels Street north to 24th Street, east to Main Street, south on Main Street to McLoughlin Boulevard and west to Hough Elementary. For further information, call 992-7060.

The parade,in its 16th year under current sponsorship of the Hough Foundation, is an annual tribute to Irish immigrant and educator Patrick Hough, who was principal of the Hough School and from whom the neighborhood got its name.

Forum at the Library takes up green power

“Green Power: How Much Can We Afford?” is the subject matter of the Forum at the Library at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in Library Hall in the Vancouver Community Library, 1007 E. Mill Plain Boulevard.

Presenters are as follows: Patrick McGary, power manager, Clark Public Utilities; Ann Gravatt, policy director, Renewable Northwest Project; and Ruth Bennett, chief operating officer, Bonneville Power Administration. Moderator is Dan Ogden.

There is no charge.

Magenta Theater’s The Lion, The Witch
and The Wardrobe opens Thursday

Magenta Theater Company’s production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe opens Thursday March 15, in its theater at 108 W 27th Street.

Written by C. S. Lewis, and dramatized by Joseph Robinette, the Vancouver production is directed by Jaynie Roberts.

Tickets in advance are $10 to $13, slightly higher at the box office. Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 15 and 16, and 3 p.m. Saturday, March 17. For further information, call 635-4358 or go to www.magentatheater.com

Mystery of Love Dialogue Project
to be convened twice this month

Vancouver is one of ten communities in the United States participating in the Mystery of Love Dialogue Project, according to Jeanne Kojis, executive director of the Nonprofit Network, the local sponsoring organization. The project is funded nationwide by the Fetzer Institute Campaign for Love & Forgiveness.

The project is designed to explore how love is in action in our lives and in our community, says Kojis.

Two free facilitated programs will be presented n Vancouver, the first at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, in the Battle Ground Senior Center, 116 NE 3rd Avenue, the second at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 SE Columbia Way.
