Mother, triplets doing well following birth at Legacy After 17 years of marriage, surgical reversal of a vasectomy, six artificial inseminations, three in vitro fertilizations, and temporarily relocating from their home in Bend, Ore., Thomas and Ellen Gallagher’s dreams were finally fulfilled. They had a baby. Actually, three babies. Yesterday, at about one month premature, Ellen delivered triplets by Cesarean section at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital in Vancouver, Wash. They are Trey Ryan, 5-lbs., 2-oz., 18 ¼ inches long, born at 7:52 a.m.; Joy Elle 4-lbs., 12-oz., 18 inches long, born at 7:53 a.m.; and Thomas V (fifth) 4-lbs., 2-oz., 18 3/4 inches long, born at 7:54 a.m. All three babies and Ellen are doing well; the newborns are quietly resting under the care of the NICU team (neonatal intensive care unit). Youth commission seeking nominations for achievement awards The Clark County Youth Commission is seeking nominations in 11 categories to honor the youth of Clark County. The Youth Achievement Celebration will be held Sat., May 19, 2007. Nominations are due April 20, 2007. The nominations are open to youth ages 11-19 as of May 19, 2007. Coordinated by the Clark County Youth Commission under the guidance of Clark County’s Department of Community Services, the awards recognize county youth age 11-19 who have demonstrated achievement in any of nine categories. Categories include: courage, community services, arts, business/enterprise, citizenship, leadership, family life, education, environmental stewardship or inspiration. The Youth Commission is a youth-driven advisory board established by the Clark County Board of Commissioners in April 1998. Members ages 11-19 from throughout Clark County provide a youth-oriented point of view to the work of the Board of County Commissioners, county departments, and community organizations. The Youth Commission informs these groups about important issues, makes suggestions on how to address the issues and provides direction on how to build positive partnerships.Anyone may submit nominations and youth may nominate themselves. Clark County HCT Study Steering Committee Meets April 5 The Clark County High Capacity Transit (HCT) System Study’s Steering Committee of elected officials and partner agency staff will meet on April 5. The committee will be asked to adopt the study goals and objectives and will be asked to recommend modes and corridors to carry forward for further analysis. The Steering Committee’s role is to provide policy direction and build consensus between the many jurisdictions that have a stake in Clark County’s transportation options. The Clark County High Capacity Transit System Study is evaluating various HCT transit technologies and travel corridors in Clark County to determine which will best meet the future transit needs of county residents.
