Kim Capeloto promoted to president
and chief operating officer at BOCC

Kim Capeloto, one of the earliest team members at the Bank of Clark County when it was formed eight years ago, has been promoted to president and chief operating officer, reports the bank’s president and chief executive officer Mike Worthy.

Worthy will continue to serve as the chief executive officer and will focus additional energy on the company’s expansion plans and other strategic opportunities.

In his new role, Capeloto will continue to lead the bank’s operations, deposit business development, information technology, human resources and marketing divisions.

“This promotion acknowledges Capeloto’s exceptional service to the company and his key role in daily operations,” Worthy said.

Capeloto was one of the bank’s earliest team members and has overseen growth at the bank to its current size of $345 million in assets.

Capeloto is a 20-year veteran in banking. He was a regional manager for Union Bank of California in Seattle and a district manager at Wells Fargo Bank. He also was a sales manager for a west coast retail clothing chain.

Capeloto, who was voted Independent Community Bankers of America COO of the year in 2005, attended Seattle University and Liceo Scientifico, Novara, Italy.

Capeloto is a board member of Identity Clark County, the Ridgefield Economic Development Council, Emil Fries School of Piano Tuning and Technology, and Junior Achievement. He is also involved with Share House and the Southwest Washington Red Cross, and is a member of the Washington State University Diversity Advisory Committee.

Validating machine to save county
elections department $40,000 a year

A $670,064.61 federal grant has been awarded to the Clark County auditor’s office to reimburse the county for the cost of a computer application that will validate signatures on the outer envelope of ballots mailed to the county Elections Department.

County auditor Greg Kimsey says the new application, expected to be ready for the early 2008 elections, will save the Elections Department about $40,000 a year in temporary labor costs.

Currently the outer envelopes returned by voters are manually validated.

The auditor’s office applied for the grant through the Federal Help America Vote Act.

Cancer Center volunteers sought

Last year, approximately volunteers at Southwest Washington Medical Center contributed nearly 67,000 volunteer hours, reports medical Center president and CEO Joe Kortum.

In addition, nearly 100 volunteers contributed 7,200 hours of service for Hospice Southwest.

And, at the Cancer Center, 75 volunteers contributed 3,000 hours of their time helping patients with various stages of their cancer treatment.

The need continues, particularly at the Cancer Center, hospital officials say. A volunteer training session will be held in mid-May. Those interested in contributing time to assist cancer patients may call Sherilyn Brown, volunteer coordinator, 514-3125.
