Jet-boat tours of Vancouver
waterfront scheduled Saturday

Explorers and early visitors often had their first view of the Vancouver water front from the Columbia River. This Saturday, jetboat excursions offer riders a view of the Port of Vancouver Columbia River docks and industrial area from similar vantage points.

Half-hour jetboat rides are $5 per person from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 23. Port of Vancouver guides will be on board the 62-passenger Willamette Jetboat Excursions jetboats as they depart from Vancouver Landing just west of the Red Lion Hotel at the Quay. Advance reservations are not being taken. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For further information, call 992-1129.

Brubeck Brothers revisited

Last Saturday’s Bravo! Vancouver presentation of the Brubeck Brothers Quartet was a sensation. In the 60’s working as a disc jockey in the Midwest, I used to play Dave Brubeck’s Take Five, and I thought that was way cool. Last Saturday the Brubeck boys, Chris and Dan, gave us their version of their father’s famous work, and I thought that that was even better! Michael Kissinger is Vancouver’s impresario. This August at the Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival he brings us Melissa Manchester, Poncho Sanchez, Blind Boys of Alabama and the rock solid Kenny Loggins. All that talent in Esther Short Park. Oh my!—Tim Welch.
