Festival offers music The Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association, which has held its annual cultural festivals in Oaks Park in Portland for the past five years, this year is celebrating in Esther Short Park on Saturday, June 30. Admission for the noon until 5 p.m. afternoon of Tibetan food, music and dancing is free. Entertainment is by Tibetan singer Passang Dolma, from India, and three Tibetan dance troops. A Tibetan bazaar is featured. More than 450 Tibetans live in southern Washington and Portland, according to Tsering Choephel, president of the Tibetan Cultural Association. C-TRAN plans
shuttle service C-TRAN will provide express shuttle service to the fireworks celebration in the Historic Reserve from the Vancouver Mall parking lot near the former Mervyn’s location, between 6 and 9 p.m. Express buses will leave every ten minutes. Service returning from the Historic Reserve begins at 10:30 p.m. Round trip fare is $1 per person or $3 for groups of up to six riders. There is no charge for children 6 and under. Ice Cream Month is
a month Jim West, owner of All-American Deli & Ice Cream, in Westfield Vancouver Mall, is celebrating National Ice Cream Month (July) by donating 25 percent of all hot fudge sundae sales to the Parks Foundation. And, on National Ice Cream Day, Sunday, July 15, he is donating 100 percent of all ice cream sales, including sundaes, to the foundation. National Ice Cream Day was proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Vanilla is America’s favorite ice cream flavor.
