County fair winds
down with A demolition derby highlights this evening’s Clark County Fair entertainment at 7:30 p.m. ProArena and Tuff Trucks headline Clark County fair entertainment at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, and Sunday, the final day of the fair features Monster & Tuff Trucks in performances at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Monster & Tuff Trucks entertainers are Monster Moose, Jen Campbell; Public Disturbance, Brad Campbell; Rock , Bill Payne; and High Voltage, Frank Sharpe. All remaining county fair entertainment is free with fair admission. The ten-day county fair concludes Sunday, Aug. 12. General admission is $9 per person. Senior tickets are $7, and children 7 through 17 are $5 per child. Parking is $5 per vehicle. C-TRAN is offering shuttle service from the Vancouver Mall, Fisher’s Landing, Salmon Creek, Ridgefield and La Center for $1 each. management update Although Clark County is one of several counties appealing new state storm water management regulations, the counties are nevertheless required to submit updates to the state. To comply with new requirements to expand county storm water management, including more treatment facilities, stream habitat restoration work and The revision of current ordinances governing land development, the county has appointed a Stake Holder Advisory Committee to provide oversight throughout the updating process. Ridgefield’s Clark County’s 30th annual Parade of Homes, sponsored by the Building Industry Association of Clark County, opened its 17-day run in the Hillhurst section of Ridgefield at 10 a.m. today, reports BIA special events director Ericka Carlsen. Five homes are on display. Special events include a meet-the-builder-program, color and design tours, a playhouse parade, a parade of dog homes. Vancouver-Portland cycling map The City of Vancouver has published a new "Cycling the Cities" bicycle map showing bike facilities, routes and trails in the Vancouver and Portland area. The complete bicycling guide contains a map of both the Vancouver urban area (north to Salmon Creek and east to Camas) and the City of Portland. Helpful cycling tips and contact information are also listed in the guide. This new guide is one of the few bicycle maps in the country that is a bi-state cycling map. It could actually be considered an update to the 1896 "Cyclists' Road Map of Portland District" bicycle map (originally published by Cunningham and Banks and later by the Oregon Historical Society 1973). The city printed 10,000 maps which will be distributed for free throughout the region at local bicycle shops, businesses and government offices. Maps will also be available Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Mayor's Bike Ride celebrating Vancouver's 150th Anniversary. Calendar The C-TRAN board of directors meets in a day-long retreat session that began at 8:30 a.m. this morning, in the Summit Lodge near La Center. <> The final two performances of Steve Martin’s comedy Picasso at the Lapin Agile will be presented at 8 p.m. this evening, and Saturday, Aug. 11, in the Main Street Theatre, 606 Main Street. A full bar opens at 7:15 p.m. each evening. Tickets range from $10 to $24. Dinner-theater packages with the Restaurant at the Historic Reserve are $55.
