Visitors entering Vancouver at 6th Street are welcome

The recently completed unofficial welcoming mural on Vancouver's 6th Street, is a collaborative effort between the Clark County Mural Society and Vancouver's Downtown Association, according to society chairman Jerry Rolling. The photograph of the mural on the south wall of the Econo Lodge was taken Tuesday by Larry Easter.

Oops, doggone it

Yesterday the Insider reported that newly appointed Clark County Community Services director Vanessa Gaston would succeed Rich Carson. That is not so, as dozens of Insider readers have reported. Gaston succeeds Mike Piper in that job. Carson, who recently left the county, was director of Clark County Community Development.

The Department of Community Services works in partnership with other agencies, jurisdictions, and the people of Clark County to plan and manage social services and to achieve a safe and healthy community. Most services are contracted to agencies providing direct services throughout Clark County.

The Department of Community Development is primarily involved in County code enforcement and the building permit process.
