Anonymous donor makes second An anonymous donor, whose $100,000 matching gift raised more than $200,000 for the Clark College Foundation, has again offered a $100,000 matching gift to the foundation, reports foundation director Lisa Gibert. Gibert said that the gift will match all donations dollar for dollar in the following areas: Area of Greatest Need; General Scholarships; Adult Literacy; Mature Learning; Library; Business & Technology; Social Science & Fine Arts; Athletic Scholarships; Basic Education; English; Communications & Humanities; Science; and Healthy & Physical Education. Renee Newman has been appointed director of the newly created cash management office at First Independent, where she will provide comprehensive and integrated financial solutions for First Independent business clients. Active in the community, Newman is chair of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra board. She is a member of the board for Classroom Law, and is a member of the fundraising committees of the United Way and the YMCA. An Oregon State University graduate, Newman has more than 15 years’ banking experience and holds Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses and also has a life and disability insurance license in Washington and Oregon. Bob Mircovich promoted to vice
president
Bob Mircovich has been promoted to vice president and sales manager of Riverview Bancorp’s Riverview Mortgage, where he will supervise the bank’s ten mortgage brokers, announced David Dahlstrom, the bank’s executive vice president and chief credit officer. Mircovich is a Southern Oregon State College graduate. He has been active with the Clark County Association of Realtors, where he has received Affiliate-of-the-Year, Freeman Keller and Golden Key Awards for outstanding service. He has also been active in fundraising efforts for the Epilepsy Foundation and the Relay for Life. County to use $3.3 million
grant Clark County’s Department of Community Services will use a recently announced $3.3 million state grant to provide additional housing and social services for the homeless in the community, according to Barb Sussex, program manager. The three-year plan is expected to achieve the following: Identify, close and clean homeless encampments while providing housing and social services for 450 people moved from the encampments. Provide re-entry housing and intensive services for 85 people living in institutions. Expand transitional and permanent supported housing for 100 difficult-to-house clients. Enhance landlord outreach and coordination of housing partnerships. Partners in the program will include the following: City of Vancouver, Share, Community Services Northwest, Council for the Homeless, Vancouver Police Department, Lifeline Connections, Columbia River Mental Health Services and the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. Clark County Chamber The Clark County Chamber of Commerce has presented five organizations with Best-in-County Awards for innovative business approaches that benefit the community, reports chamber president Walt Ronish. Award winners are as follows: Beastie Boutique, for developing innovative marketing strategies linking business growth with community involvement and support. Marsh, Higgins, Beaty & Hatch, for networking and actively participating in network organizations and events. Greenstone Architecture, for integrating architecture and green environmental strategies. Quick Recovery Clinic, for commitment to patient health and for the development of a business model focused on healing patients with a minimal number of visits. Goodwill, for supporting a large population in the community with job and skills training, job placement and ongoing support. News brief All four branches of West Coast Bank in Clark County are collecting teddy bears for distribution to Southwest Washington Medical Center and Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, reports the bank’s relationship officer, Justin Myers. So far, 300 teddy bears have been collected in the drive that continues through Friday, Dec. 21.
