Port of Vancouver hires
A native of Portland, Jonathan Eder has joined the Port of Vancouver as human resources manager. He will be managing all human resource functions, including compensation and benefits, family medical leave, recruitment, and employee-labor relations. After returning from Guatemala in 2003, where he had volunteered two and a half years in the Peace Corps, Eder was a human resources generalist for Oregon Child Development Coalition and later Anesthesiologists Associated, Beaverton, before joining the port. Eder is a graduate of Southern Oregon University.
Kathy Holtby, Battle Ground, has joined the Port of Vancouver's facilities department as property manager. Her responsibilities will include working with tenants, managing leases, and development. A former director of market feasibility for the Red Lion Hotel Executive Office, Holtby most recently was a real estate associate for Prudential NW Properties in sales and land development. Holtby is a graduate of Michigan State University.
Dave Hurt has joined the Port of Vancouver's facilities department as contracts manager. His responsibilities will include contracts, bids, proposals, and assisting and managing small works and architect and engineer rosters. Hurt is a former U.S. Marine Corps logistics officer. Hurt is also a former Columbia Credit Union general services manager. Most recently he was with C-TRAN, where he was a construction manager. A native of Brush Prairie, Hurt has earned bachelor's degrees from Concordia University and the University of Washington. Hurt holds a masters degree in public affairs from Washington State University. Hurt is also a graduate of Leadership Clark County. He is a member of the Camp Bonneville's Citizen Advisory Group.
A Northwest native, Christine Kussman has recently joined the Port of Vancouver as accounting manager. She will supervises the port’s accounting staff. Prior to joining the port, Kussman was a financial controller for three years at the American Red Cross in Portland. Kussman was also a volunteer at the International School in Stuttgart, Germany, doing English-German translation and general office work. Kussman is a CPA and a graduate of the University of Washington. Heavy hitters meet with
legislators The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Identity Clark County and the Columbia River Economic Development Council will unveil a 2008 joint legislative agenda at a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in the Hilton Vancouver Washington. Most members of the Southwest Washington legislative delegation are expected to attend and share their priorities during this annual Legislative Outlook Breakfast. Likely focus areas of the legislative agenda will include economic development and transportation funding, with employment issues, property taxes, storm water regulation and higher education also on close watch. Cost of the breakfast is $30. For further information, call 694-2588. Klineline Bridge closed; new Klineline Bridge crossing Salmon Creek on Highway 99 is being closed permanently, Clark County officials said today. Construction on a replacement bridge is expected to begin next April, with completion expected in about 12 months. Local traffic for businesses on both sides of the bridge remains open. An alternative route crossing Salmon Creek is Interstate 5. After being closed twice in 2006, the bridge was reopened by county crews after emergency repairs. Those repairs have begun failing, according to officials. A previous bridge crossing Salmon Creek at that location collapsed half a century ago.
