Evergreen Public Schools supports
changes in No Child Left Behind

Evergreen Public Schools’ board of directors by resolution has given support for the No Child Left Behind Improvements Act of 2007. The changes in federal law have been advanced by the National School Boards Association.

School board president Schuyler Hoss says that, “The board supports the goals of NCLB of raising student achievement and providing accountability for improving student and school performances. However, the board also believes that improvements can be made in eliminating barriers in implementing the law to its full extent.”

Schuyler adds, “Evergreen Public Schools has five years of experience in working to implement NCLB. Over that period of time, we have come to appreciate what NCLB is trying to do, but we believe that some improvements are necessary in order to truly serve students. That's why we are supporting the draft legislation created by the National School Boards Association based on input from local school boards across the country.”
