Debbie Bahr named Free Clinic
project access manager

Debbie Bahr has been named manager of the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington’s Clark County Project Access Program, reports clinic executive director Nancy Pare. Bahr will be responsible for coordinating specialty care services for qualified uninsured people living in Clark County.

Bahr, a graduate of the University of Oregon, earned a masters degree in business from the University of Portland and has 16 years’ experience in project management. She is a former guest instructor at Portland State University and adjunct faculty member at Marylhurst University.

Bahr is a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Chapple Hill Cat Sanctuary, Clark College Heritage Ambassadors and SOLV.

The Free Clinic provides free basic health care for children and adults who are otherwise unable to access basic health care services.   

Catherine Huber Nickerson joins
Battle Ground as finance director

Catherine Huber Nickerson has been named finance and information services director for the City of Battle Ground, reports city manager Dennis Osborn. Nickerson will lead the city’s finance department in accounting, information and customer service.

Most recently Nickerson, Camas, has been finance manager for the Clark County Treasurer’s Office.

Nickerson is a graduate of Seattle University and holds a masters degree in public administration from Lewis and Clark College. She is a certified government finance manager.

Riverview adds mortgage brokers

Three new mortgage brokers have been added to the staff at Riverview Community Bank, according to chairman of the 18-branch southern Washington bank, Pat Scheaffer.

Beth Faulkner, who will be based in the bank’s NE 162nd Place branch, is an Eastern Washington University nursing graduate and continues to work as a registered nurse in Legacy System  neonatal care units.

Faulkner is a member of the Clark County Association of Realtors and the Washington and the national Association of Mortgage Brokers.

Gary Cox and Jerry Brown, also named mortgage brokers,  will be based in the bank’s Longview branch.

Helping People Manage Change
registration deadline nears

The registration deadline for the one-day Clark College seminar on helping people manage change is Thursday, March 6, says Robert Jeffers, who will conduct the one-day seminar on behalf of Clark’s corporate education division.

Jeffers, who is also an education trainer for the college’s corporate education division, is a teaching fellow at the University of Wisconsin School of Business. He has over 20 years’ experience, working with Kodak, Deloitte & Touche, American Family Insurance, Inc Magazine, Thrivent Financial, Weyerhaeuser and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Jeffers will, among other things, discuss how well-managed change invigorates organizations and increases capacity.

The course is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 13, in the Clark College T-Building. Fees are $225 per person, with a $25-per-person discount for groups of two or more. For further information, call 992-2939.

Jenny Bullard, Vancouver, has been appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to the Washington State Agency Council on Coordinated Transportation. Bullard is the transportation coordinator for Evergreen Public Schools and is a member of the Washington Association for Pupil Transportation.

News brief

A record 450 Republicans attended  last week’s Clark County Republican Day Dinner, reports local GOP chair, Anna Miller. The previous record at fundraising event was 200 attendees.

A community panel selected by the Vancouver Planning Commission will discuss the Columbia River Crossing Project in a public planning commission session at 4 p.m. today in City Hall.
