Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to headline July
SW Washington Sustainability Conference

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., senior attorney for the National Resources Defense Council, is the headline speaker for the three-day Southwest Washington Sustainability Conference and Trade Show in the Hilton Vancouver Washington, Thursday through Saturday, July 10-12.

Vancouver mayor Royce Pollard and Clark County commissioner Steve Stuart say that the conference is expected to inspire people to achieve higher levels of stewardship and ecological, economic and social success.

The conference is sponsored by the city and county, along with other agencies and partners.

Cost of the conference is $275 per person if tickets are bought before June 15, after which tickets are $325 each. However, a limited number of tickets for Kennedy’s speech will be available for $25 each.

Kennedy was named one of Time magazine’s Heroes for the Planet for his success in helping Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River, an achievement that helped spawn more than 160 waterkeeper organizations throughout the world.

A best selling author, Kennedy is co-host of Ring of Fire, broadcast on Air America Radio, and is a clinical professor and supervising attorney at Pace University School of Law’s Environmental Litigation Clinic.

Other conference speakers are Joe Van Belleghem, partner in Windmill Developments, and Sonia Shah, investigative reporter and critically acclaimed author.

For further information, call Colleen Kawahara in the city manager’s office, 696-8036, or Loretta Callahan in the Clark County Department of Public Works, 759-4479.
