Baird uses purple prose U.S. Rep. Brian Baird (D-3rd), at a news conference in a Vancouver Home Depot store today promoting the exchange of stimulus tax rebate money for green products, declared in a press handout: “First, consumers will stimulate the economy by spending the rebate checks. Second, by investing in energy conservation products, consumers will reduce their own energy consumption and save money on their energy bills. Third, by reducing energy consumption, we will reduce the overall demand for energy. Fourth, by reducing the overall demand for energy, we will reduce the overall cost of energy. And, fifth, by reducing energy consumption, we will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save our environment.”
