Community leaders elected to
Columbia Springs board of directors

             Bob Lewis                             Becky Weis

Bob Lewis and Becky Weis have been elected to the board of directors of the Columbia Springs Foundation. The foundation supports activities of the Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center in the former state fish hatchery grounds on the Evergreen Highway.

Lewis is president of Columbia Vista Corporation. Weis, a retired school teacher, is chair of the WSU Athletics Auction and is past co-chair of the Pink Power Event.

The environmental education center's mission is to engage the community in environmental education within a historically significant urban setting. Last year more than 11,000 Clark County students visited Columbia Springs for field trips and service learning activities.

Business leadership conference
tackles trust and ethics in business

The father-son team of Steven R. Covey and Steven M. R. Covey will lead an all-day conference exploring the crisis of trust and ethics in business and society Thursday, April 10, in the Oregon Convention Center.

“We’re bringing the Coveys to the Vancouver-Portland area to give the region’s business leaders a face-to-face opportunity to tap into the legendary expertise and perspective of this dynamic team,” says Jeff Firstenburg, senior vice president of First Independent and head of the bank’s Oregon operations.

The Columbia-Willamette Leadership Conference is presented by First Independent and sponsored by The Columbian, Portland Business Alliance, Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and KXL Radio.

Ticket prices are $199 per person or $185 per person with orders of eight or more tickets. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets. Further ticket information is available by going to www.ticketmaster.com.
