Superintendent’s retirement
is jeans and jawbone event

John Erickson, who has served as superintendent of Vancouver Public Schools since 2002, is being honored on his retirement from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, in the commons in Hudson’s Bay High School, 1601 E McLoughlin Boulevard.

Erickson, who has had a 40-year career in education, and who joined the Vancouver School District in 1994, is known as a down-home kind of guy.

Hence, sponsors of his retirement party, to which the public is invited, say dress is cowboy casual on a Western theme. Erickson will be roasted and toasted at the “O.K. Corral,” reports Kris Sork in the district’s communications office.

Field seminar programs, held from June through September, range from astronomy to photography.
