Ray and Harriet Johnson earn
Volunteer of the year Award

Ray and Harriet Johnson, who have been with southern Washington’s Evergreen Habitat for Humanity since its inception in 1991, today were honored as Volunteers of the Year by the growing organization that so far has helped build 16 private homes in Clark County.

Ray, a retired Oregonian  executive, was one of the original board members of Evergreen Habitat for Humanity, and this year served as one of the first volunteer managers of the planned Restore Store in Clark County. Harriet currently fills in at the organizations office.

Evergreen Habitat for Humanity currently has seven homes under construction.

Consumer sought for
public health council

Clark County Board of Health is looking for a nonmedical representative to fill a vacancy on the Public Health Advisory Council.

The health council is seeking someone who will represent the consumer side of health issues, according to Clark County commissioner Betty Sue Morris.

A large number of healthcare professionals already serve on the Public Health Advisory Council, which provides a direct link between the Clark County Board of Health and the community at large. Now the Board is seeking a Clark County resident who will represent consumers of public health services.

The council meets the third Tuesday of every month.  Applicants should submit a resume and a letter of interest by Tuesday, Oct. 14. For further information, call Julie Grimm, 397-8477.
