Gary was born in LaJolla,
California, on July 14, 1953. He moved to Vancouver in 1980; there he
focused on two of his talents: the preparation
of fine food, and his ability
to connect with people. Gary Galland
He opened a small restaurant/bakery and developed an active catering
business. His signature “fudge cake” became the talk of the town. The
business thrived, and he opened a new restaurant, Tyrone’s Patisserie,
which he operated in downtown Vancouver for ten years. He also had an
innate ability to recognize talent in musicians. Soon the restaurant was
alive with music from such artists as
Michael Harrison and Dave Friesen.
Gary helped present Michael Harrison at his first public concert at the
Columbia Arts Center.
When he sold Tyrone’s
Patisserie, Gary joined forces with
Cherie Ronning in two ventures. First they opened and operated an
event space downtown Vancouver called “Off Broadway.” Then as a team
they open and operated Avalon, at St. James Places for a pair of local
investors.
In 1999, Gary and his wife
Kim, moved to Palm Springs, where
he used his entrepreneurial spirit to open still another restaurant and
used his creative eye to turn ordinary houses into beautiful homes.
Gary leaves behind his wife,
Kim, daughter Danielle,
Danielle’s mother, Linda Galland,
nephew Brandon Galland ,and a
multitude of friends in Washington, California and Mexico. His parents,
Lee and
