Comments wanted on Camp
Bonneville cleanup plans

The state Department of Ecology is seeking comments on cleaning up the central impact target area of Camp Bonneville. The former artillery target area covers roughly 465 acres of the nearly 4,000 former military base in northeast Clark County. The comment period began today and continues through Monday, June 29.

In 2006, the Bonneville Conservation Restoration and Renewal Team took temporary ownership to manage the cleanup. The Department of Ecology will determine when the site meets state cleanup standards. After that, Clark County will own the site and use it as a park and wilderness conservation area.

The camp was used for army training and firing range practice from 1910 to 1995. Draft documents may be seen in the Vancouver Mall Public Library. For further information, call 892-8256.

at Providence SW Washington

Medrice Coluccio has joined Providence Health & Services as chief executive of its Southwest Washington region. Coluccio succeeds Scott Bond, who is leaving Providence after nearly 30 years of service with the organization, the last 15 in Southwest Washington.

Coluccio comes to Providence from the Lower Columbia Region of PeaceHealth, where she served as regional chief executive of a 346-bed, multi-campus health care system that includes a 120-member physician group, a foundation and operating revenues totaling $225 million. Coluccio was also responsible for system-wide construction and facility management initiatives throughout PeaceHealth.

News briefs

The next phase of road construction on Ward Road at NE 99th Street began today and will continue until the end of the year. Ward Road will continue to be closed at the intersection with NE 172nd Avenue near China Ditch until then. As part of the larger NE Ward Road Intersection realignment project, NE 172nd Avenue has been closed since April, but the intersection with NE 99th Street has remained open until now. This realignment will cost about $6.4 million and will support about 65 private sector construction jobs. <> The City of Battle Ground will be recognized by the Association of Washington Cities, at its annual conference in June, with the AWC WellCity Award of Excellence, for Battle Ground's outstanding worksite wellness program. The AWC WellCity Award recognizes cities and towns that demonstrate best practices in employee health promotion.
