Agave opens store in
Ridgefield Saturday

The Agave denim outlet store, design studio and warehouse, at 6210 South 11th Street, Ridgefield, opens for retail business, 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27.

As part of the launch, Agave will open up its entire Agave Design Studio and warehouse, giving the public unprecedented access to its creative and funky design space and a unique insider’s perspective on how its products are created. In addition, activities for kids, free food, drink and live music will be supplied.

The event will also play host to a denim exchange. For every person who brings in a pair of clean used jeans for donation to local and regional homeless shelters, will receive an extra 10 per cent discount on merchandise from the outlet store.

Police chief says deadlines being met

For the first time since 2004, we met the standard response time for priority 1 police calls, reports Vancouver police chief calls. Our average response time for priority 1 calls was four minutes and forty-six seconds—under the five minute standard reports Vancouver police chief Clifford Cook.

In addition, property and violent crimes were down in 2008 from the year before, and overall, citizens report they feel safer. We have been good stewards of our budget, reducing overtime by more than $600,000, while securing new grant funding for auto theft, traffic safety and DUI programs.

These are just a few of the successes highlighted in the performance snapshot, which is available on our website. I’d like to recognize each officer, civilian and command staff member of this department whose hard work contributed to these successes. Thank You.

Norcott’s photography being
shown at WSU Vancouver

An exhibit of Todd Norcott's photography is on display through the end of July in the Washington State University Vancouver library.

Norcott is a Vancouver native whose body of work focuses on images of the Pacific Northwest. He has established himself as an important part of the Vancouver art scene. His photos are part of the Southwest Washington Medical Center collection.

The WSU Vancouver exhibit displays more than 40 prints. The images range from flowers and plants to architecture, interiors and landscape. Norcott says that his passion is "for finding art in everyday life." Norcott carefully uses saturated colors and balanced compositions. The images are very still and planned; very few of the pieces show movement.

Entry to campus exhibits is free. There is a charge for parking. WSU Vancouver galleries are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
