Police chief says deadlines being met For the first time since 2004, we met the standard response time for priority 1 police calls, reports Vancouver police chief calls. Our average response time for priority 1 calls was four minutes and forty-six seconds—under the five minute standard reports Vancouver police chief Clifford Cook. In addition, property and violent crimes were down in 2008 from the year before, and overall, citizens report they feel safer. We have been good stewards of our budget, reducing overtime by more than $600,000, while securing new grant funding for auto theft, traffic safety and DUI programs. These are just a few of the successes highlighted in the performance snapshot, which is available on our website. I’d like to recognize each officer, civilian and command staff member of this department whose hard work contributed to these successes. Thank You. Elson and Jan Strahan
