Clark Public Utilities ranked highest in customer

satisfaction for residential electric service

In a study issued by J.D. Power and Associates, Clark Public Utilities ranked highest in customer satisfaction for residential electric service among midsize electricity providers in the western United States. It’s the second consecutive year that Clark has received this prestigious recognition.

The study, designed and independently financed by J.D. Power and Associates, is a standardized measure of satisfaction available for the electric residential utility industry. Based on more than 79,500 online responses from residential electric utility customers throughout the U.S., the study compared 121 electric utility brands, collectively serving some 92 million households.

“It’s truly amazing to receive this coveted award from J.D. Power and Associates two years in a row,” said Carol Curtis, president of the utility’s board of commissioners. “This is a reflection of the dedication and hard work by all of the utility’s 396 employees since it reflects all aspects of the service we provide. It’s particularly meaningful because it clearly shows our customers are pleased with the service we provide.”

Columbia Bank opens in Vancouver

Tacoma-based Columbia Bank will open a new banking and investment branch at the Angelo site at 400 Mill Plain Center, builder Craig Angelo of Angelo Construction Co. announced Thursday at Vancouver Business Journal's Top Project awards.

The location will be the first Vancouver branch for the bank, which operates in Washington as Columbia Bank and as Astoria Bank in Oregon, with a combined $3 billion in deposits. An investment arm, CB Financial, will also be housed at the site.

"This new branch is integral to our company's future, and helps to plug the gap between our locations in Woodland and Portland," said Columbia Bank Regional Manager and longtime Clark County resident Mark Brandon. "It's a win for everyone."

Founded in 1988 as First Federal Corporation, what has become today's Columbia Bank grew from just four branches in 1993 to 55 branches in 2007.
