The City of Vancouver Transportation Services is having an open house about safety improvements planned for 39th Street, from Lincoln Avenue to P Street, at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Lincoln Elementary School, in the school commons, 4200 Daniels St.

The City of Vancouver Transportation Services received a $450,000 grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation Highways and Local Programs to fund pedestrian and traffic safety improvements along 39th Street. The proposed improvements include updating existing signs, re-striping the roadway, adding bike lanes, removing some parking and installing permanently-mounted radar speed signs.
