Rebound doctor receives international accolades for orthopedic hand research Edward H. Coale, JrEdward H. Coale, Jr. won the R.L. Petzoldt award at the Boston 2008 American Society of Hand Therapists’ annual meeting, and Best Paper in the Scientific Session at the 2009 annual meeting of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT). Both awards were for his research done in collaboration with Julie Teal, owner, Hand Therapy Specialists. Dr. Coale is an orthopedic surgeon at Rebound in Vancouver with a sub-specialty in hand and wrist surgery. He began his practice at Rebound in 1992.
Bledsoe to Keynote Leadership Clark County Orientation Cheryl Bledsoe, manager of the Emergency Management Division at the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA), a 2008 graduate of the LCC program, and recipient of the 2008 Marshall Public Leadership Award, will provide the keynote address at the Leadership Clark County Orientation and Alumni reception. Class members may attend a private orientation from 3 to 6:30 p.m., with the reception following from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Pearson Air Museum. Jim Fischer headlines benefit concert for Evergreen Habitat for Humanity Popular local pianist and singer Jim Fischer is headlining and directing a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, to help finance a Habitat for Humanity home being built by three local Presbyterian Churches and Wells Fargo Bank. The event is at First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main Street in Vancouver. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Featured musicians, besides Fischer, include vocalists Kyra Smith, Trevor Smith, Kimberly Hall, and the combined choirs of First, St. John’s and Columbia Presbyterian churches. Ensemble musicians are Keith Collins, Ed Bisquera, Ron Barnes, Everett Carlson and Jay “Bird” Groder. Tickets are available at Beacock Music and Ape Over Music. Vancouver observes PARK(ing) Day with fun and education PARK(ing) Day is a global event where public parking spaces are temporarily turned into parks. The main message is to encourage the community to rethink how shared space is used, including parking spaces. It is also an opportunity for Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation to introduce The Intertwine, an ever-growing network of regional parks, trails and natural areas in the bi-state area, and the Intertwine Alliance, a group of non-profits, state and local agencies, businesses and people from across the region working to preserve and promote parks, natural areas, open spaces, water and wildlife habitat. Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation is a partner in the Intertwine Alliance. There will be four PARK(ing) spaces in downtown and uptown Vancouver area from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
