In addition to Southwest’s board, she has served on the governance boards of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette and First Independent Bank.

The governing board consists of 15 community members who volunteer to guide Southwest Washington Health System, which consists of the Medical Center, health plans, physician practices, and a myriad of integrated services throughout Clark County. Learn more at www.sw-health.org.

County to consider parking restrictions near WSU Vancouver

County commissioners decided yesterday to hold a pubic hearing at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin Street, on proposed restrictions concerning daytime parking on some residential streets west of Washington State University Vancouver.

Residents living near the 350-acre campus have voiced concerns about parked cars, mail delivery, garbage collection and pedestrian safety since many areas do not have sidewalks and residents routinely walk in the street.

Neighborhood representatives distributed surveys and circulated petitions to gauge where parking restrictions would have the most residential support.

During an Aug. 11 open house, county officials heard comments generally supportive of parking restrictions but also heard some opposition.

The proposal would prohibit all on-street parking during specified times, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, excluding holidays, on sections of the following roads: Northeast 147th and 148th streets, from Northeast 29th Avenue west to Northeast 26th Avenue; Northeast 150th Street, from Northeast 29th Avenue west to its end near Northeast 25th Court; Northeast 26th and 28th courts, north of Northeast 150th Street; Northeast 26th Avenue, between Northeast 147th and 148th streets; Northeast 27th Avenue, between Northeast 150th Street and Northeast 152nd Circle.

If county commissioners approve the proposal, anyone ignoring the restrictions could receive a $38 citation.

Vancouver Food Cooperative announces target date for store opening

The board of directors of Vancouver Food Cooperative has set a target date of October 2011 for opening its grocery store while at a board planning retreat on September 19th. VFC also launched its new logo, vision statement, and guiding principles at the Fall Harvest Celebration on October 3rd.

An exact site for the store has not been chosen yet, according to Marj Casswell, VFC’s president, though the target location area is downtown Vancouver to Upper Main Street. The organization’s site and feasibility committee is gathering information on available and suitable sites, analyzing size needs and criteria for success.

VFC’s current concentration is on building the member base necessary to support the financing necessary to open a store and on developing a solid business plan. For more information, visit www.vancouverfood.coop, email questions@vancouverfood.coop, or call 694-8094.

Library district reports district-wide online survey results

Fort Vancouver Regional Library District has posted the results of an online survey taken by 3,979 library cardholders on Sept. 14-22. An invitation to participate in the survey was sent to 72,000 email addresses provided to the library by cardholders 16 years of age or older.

The purpose of the survey was to gauge the level of library patron support for initiating late fees for items returned after the due date, assess opinions of FVRL performance, and identify new services or changes in services in which patrons are interested.

The survey report is available at http://www.fvrl.org/aboutus/files/FVRLOnlineSurveyReport-Sept2009.pdf.

The survey was conducted by Conkling Fiskum & McCormick Inc. of Portland.
