Rebound Neurosurgery opens a new Brain and Spine Center at Southwest Washington Medical Center The new Brain and Spine Center at Southwest Washington Medical Center opened today.Rebound Neurosurgery opened its new Brain and Spine Center at Southwest Washington Medical Center earlier today. There will be an open house for physicians, hospital staff, and the public from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. The new suite is the only office exclusively dedicated to serving neurosurgical patients in Southwest Washington. The Rebound doctors worked with the architects to ensure that the design meets the needs unique to their patients. According to Ashok Modha, Rebound neurosurgeon: “Our goal was to develop a space to provide better overall patient care. The new office is light and soothing to create a calming atmosphere for patients. We also employed state of the art medical technological platforms for efficiencies, which ultimately allows for an enhanced work environment for both patients and physicians.” Rebound Neurosurgery was originally founded by Tom Dietrich in Vancouver in 1971. Later, as the practice grew, the neurosurgeons joined the Vancouver Orthopedic Group in 1994 to form the united team now known as Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery. Today, the neurosurgery group includes five neurosurgeons, two nurse practitioners, and one physician assistant.
Advisory group forwards Hazel Dell sports fields plan The Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission voted Friday to forward a conceptual development plan for a youth sports fields complex to the Board of Clark County Commissioners. The project would be built on a 20-acre site in Hazel Dell along the north side of Northeast 78th Street, about a quarter mile west of St. Johns Road. The commission recommended trying to shield the neighborhood to the north from traffic and protecting as much of the site’s existing tree canopy as possible, along with having the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency continue monitoring groundwater quality. The commission’s vote came after a review of costs for building sports fields at Hazel Dell and Fairgrounds Community Park. The Hazel Dell site would cost an estimated $7.09 million to construct, compared with $13.49 million for the Fairgrounds site. The Hazel Dell project is designed to serve local youth sports groups and would include one full-size field, with synthetic turf, for baseball, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey, two intermediate baseball fields and two tee-ball fields, along with concession facilities, restrooms, lighting, walkways and road improvements.
