Turtle Place wins international recognition

Turtle Place received the 2009 Award of Distinction for Public Spaces from the International Downtown Association. The annual achievement award recognizes the innovation and partnerships formed by the Vancouver Downtown Association, C-TRAN and the City of Vancouver, that transformed an underused bus mall into an urban plaza with public art, lighting, seating, and other amenities. The plaza was also constructed from repurposed materials to promote sustainable practices.
