Fort Vancouver Bookstore's 2009 ornament by Don Lonsbrough is available now

"Christmas at Marshall House"

The Fort Vancouver National Trust has selected Don Lonsbrough as Fort Vancouver’s 2009 Christmas artist for his image “Christmas at the Marshall House.”

Collectors who would like to meet Lonsbrough and have him autograph an ornament are encouraged to attend the free “Christmas at the Marshall House” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.

Previous ornaments sold were the 2008 ornament “Vancouver Barracks” by Fay Kahn and the 2007 ornament “Fort Vancouver” by Elida Field.

All of the Fort Vancouver National Site ornaments are available for purchase at the Fort Vancouver Bookstore for $19.95 each or $49.68 for a set of all three.

The Fort Vancouver Bookstore is located inside the Fort Vancouver Visitor Center, 1501 E. Evergreen Blvd, on the south side of Officers Row. The bookstore is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is 992-1824.

Farmers Insurance Agency of Harold Van Norman, Vancouver, offers free Christmas Tree to families

Vancouver families are invited to visit the Farmers Insurance Agency of Harold Van Norman and receive a free Christmas tree with a donation to the Clark County Food Bank.

The free trees will be available at 13912 NE 20th Ave, Suite 206, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7. There are just over 100 trees, so plan on coming as early as possible. Those who are interested in getting a tree but cannot make it due to working that day can reserve a tree by calling 944-7332.

“We would like to see 2 canned goods for each foot of tree they desire,” says Harold Van Norman. “In other words, if a family would like a 5 ft.-tree they would donate 10 canned goods. Of course, all donations are accepted for any size tree. We will also have hot cocoa, free pizza and Santa Claus waving to the public!”
