Oregon Surveyor of the Year

Tim Kent
MacKay & Sposito, Inc. (M&S), announces
Tim Kent, PLS, was named
Oregon Surveyor of the Year at the annual Professional Land
Surveyors of Oregon (PLSO) conference on January 14, 2010.
Kent, a Vancouver, WA, resident has over 37 years of land surveying
experience. In addition, he has spent the past five years as a
professor, starting at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) and
currently at Clark College as the program coordinator and instructor
for the surveying program. Kent holds PLS licenses in the states of
Washington, Oregon, Alaska, California and Colorado, and is also an
Oregon Water Rights Examiner.
Previously, Kent was elected Land Surveyors’ Association of
Washington (LSAW) Surveyor of the Year in 1996 and 1998, making him
the only land surveyor to date to win the award twice.
Kent is an active member in American Congress on Surveying & Mapping
(ACSM), National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), PLSO, and
LSAW. He was recently elected as the area 10 director for NSPS and
is also the state coordinator for the TrigStar program for the PLSO.
Notably, he initiated the TwiST (Teaching with Spatial Technology)
program for K-12 teachers in Oregon and Washington last year.
“We are very happy to have surveyors here with State-wide impact,
who are recognized for their top-notch surveying efforts and their
contribution to the profession in both Oregon and Washington,” says
Jon Yamashita, PLS, vice
president of surveying. “We are proud of Tim, and he is proud of the
skills and commitment the rest of our Survey Department staff
embodies, which he has helped nurture and train.”
RSV completes construction
of Columbia Bank’s first Clark County Branch
RSV Building Solutions recently completed construction of Columbia
Bank’s first Clark County branch, which is located in the Angelo
Building in downtown Vancouver. The bank is the first tenant to open
for business in the building, which was completed in July 2009. A
grand opening event is scheduled for tonight.
“We selected RSV because they are a vital part of the local business
community,” says Mark Brandon,
senior vice president at Columbia Bank. “Our decision to work with
RSV paid off because they proved to be instrumental in the
permitting process, they met our price point, and completed the
entire project in just two months. We are delighted with the
outcome.”
The new 3,820-square-foot branch, which is located on the ground
floor of the building, features a night deposit drop, an ATM, three
teller stations, and a precast vault. Additionally, the branch
includes office space for local and regional managers.
“We are excited to have Columbia Bank as a client and feel that
their new space is a perfect fit for the prestigious Angelo
building,” says Ron Frederiksen,
president of RSV. “As long-time friends of the Angelo family, we
share their pride in this new building, which is a gem in downtown
Vancouver.”
Over the past 35 years, RSV has developed extensive tenant
improvement expertise in the financial services industry, completing
projects for local banks and credit unions.
Columbia Banking System, Inc., is headquartered in Tacoma and is the
holding company of Columbia Bank, a Washington state-chartered
full-service commercial bank. Columbia provides commercial banking
services to small and medium-sized businesses, professionals and
other individuals in Washington and Oregon.
