WSU Vancouver hosts fundraising run
Washington State University Vancouver Mascot "Butch" The Washington
State University Office of Student Involvement is offering an
on-campus 5K
run/walk at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 24. There are 100
participant spots still available. The public is welcome, and
parking is free. Non-student registration is $20. Student

www.signmeup.com/68940. Clark County CASA remembers forgotten children Friday Every year, more than 200 children enter the Clark County foster care system due to suspected parental abuse or neglect. Clark County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) trains community volunteers to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court. To raise awareness and support for these vulnerable children, the Clark County CASA Program will host "Forgotten Children: Partner with Us to Remember" on Friday, April 23, 2010, from 8 to 9 a.m. This free event will be located at the Clark County Public Services Building, Commissioners’ meeting room, 1300 Franklin Street, 6th floor, Vancouver, WA 98666. A light breakfast will be served. The event will also honor two Clark County residents who have provided outstanding support for foster children and their families. Debbie Conway, a birth parent who works with struggling parents, will be presented with the Honorable David Soukup Award, Washington State CASA’s highest honor as Advocate of the Year. Clark County 20-year-veteran CASA volunteer Judy Fortlage will also be recognized. She will receive the G.F. Betteneski Award as the National CASA Child Advocate of the Year in Atlanta, Georgia on April 16th. National sponsors of the Forgotten Children campaign are the Dr. Phil Foundation, the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation, and Jewelers for Children. Their support helps the national effort to bring communities together for foster children throughout the month of April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
