ODOT offers details of weekend repair work on I-205 bridge in May and June

Oregon's Department of Transportation will close bridge lanes and the exit to state Highway 14 on nights and weekends this summer for ongoing repair work.

ODOT plans to allow the contractor to close two lanes at a time in one direction of the I-205 Glenn Jackson Bridge for up to 20 weekends replace deck joints on the north end of the structure. The closures will begin at 10 p.m. on Fridays and end at 5 a.m. on Monday morning. Motorists should expect delays during these weekend closures.

There also will be nighttime lane closures during weeknights for barrier movement, pavement striping mobilization and other work. Motorists also should expect to see traffic shifts during weeknights and weekends.

Bridge deck joint work near SR 14 in Washington state will require the closure of the ramps connecting I-205 to SR 14 during some weekends and weeknights. During the ramp closures, motorists will be detoured to the SE Mill Plain Boulevard exit and back towards their destination.

The right two northbound  lanes are scheduled for closure on weekends through May 24. On June 4-7, two-lane closures will alternate between the right two and left two northbound lanes. Two northbound lanes will always be open. This schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.

Baskin Robbins, firefighters team up for discount ice cream to support senior safety

Firefighters will scoop discount ice cream from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at the Hazel Dell Baskin Robbins, 7000 NE Hwy. 99, while collecting donations for Fire District 6's senior Fall Prevention Program.

On April 28th, Baskin Robbins stores across the country will be selling ice cream for just 31 cents per scoop in honor of firefighters.  Not only will Baskin Robbins stores be making a $100,000 donation to the National Fallen Firefighters Association, but this 31 Cent Scoop Night gives fire departments the opportunity to collect donations for the department's designated charity on the night of the event at their local Baskin Robbins store.

This year, Fire District 6 will collect donations for its senior Fall Prevention Program.  Donations will be used to purchase fall prevention equipment, such as, grab bars, non-slip socks, walkers, and canes.

Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury-deaths and the most common cause of injuries and hospital admissions for trauma.  Fire District 6 responds to falls more than any other type of medical emergency.
