Sweetie Pies, a recently-opened pie shop on Main Street, just across from the Kiggins Theatre, serves quite literally the best pie we have ever had or could ever hope to have. Sizable slices feature super-fresh ingredients, not so sweet that you can't taste the fruit, and masterful golden-flaky crusts. We sampled peach and apple pies. And you mustn't leave without having a warm, soft, buttery-spicy cinnamon roll. You know, because you NEED a cinnamon roll after you've had two pieces of pie.
And after you're done eating, you can do the next best thing: shopping. Sweetie Pies shares a space with another retailer, Swoon, an eclectic antique store with piles of wonderful vintage finds, marvelous-smelling handmade soap, top-condition secondhand clothes, shoes, jewelry, books, and cards.
A word to coffee lovers: You can get pie on Sunday - if there's any left - but you can't get coffee. Try going up the street to Gaia Java, where you can get a deliciously rich cup of organic coffee to complement your perfect piece of pie.
