Builders
contribute to $48 million to help promote March 9
library bond issue
The Building
Industry Association of Clark County has contributed
$1,250 toward promoting a $48 million bond issue
that would double the size of the community library
in downtown Vancouver and build a new 25,000-square
foot library in east Vancouver at the Firstenburg
Center. The bond issue would also finance a separate
Fort Vancouver Regional Library District
headquarters near the current site at Fort Vancouver
Way and Mill Plain Boulevard.
“The building
industry’s goal is to build and preserve
neighborhoods and contribute to a well-rounded
community,” says Jon
Girod, BIA president. “Libraries are open for
all, free of charge, and empower individuals through
learning.”
The library
bond election is Tuesday, March 9. In addition to
voting on the bond issue, voters will be asked to
approve special district boundaries for the project.
