Library board to reexamine scope
and boundaries of failed bond issue
While no plan was
developed to resubmit the Fort Vancouver Regional Library
District’s failed $48 million March 9 bond issue to voters, the
library’s board of trustees discussed reexamining the scope of
the expansion proposal and size of special library area during
their regular public meeting last night in White Salmon.
Also, the board consensus
was not to return to the voters in 2004. The failed proposal
would have doubled the downtown Vancouver library and expanded
the east Vancouver Cascade Park Library.

Peoples Community
Credit Union
giving fairgoers a free ride this fall
In a three-way deal among
Peoples Community Credit Union, the Clark County Fair
Association and C-TRAN, the credit union has pledged to
underwrite $10,000 in fare costs in order that fairgoers may
again get free bus transportation to and from the county fair.
Last year, the transit
agency recorded 22,500 round-trip paid fares for fair patrons.
Budget constraints in 2003 prevented C-TRAN from providing free
rides.
Shuttle service will run
from most transit centers, including downtown Vancouver,
Vancouver Mall and Fishers Landing.
Parking at the fair is $5
per vehicle. The 2004 fair runs from Friday, Aug. 6, through
Sunday, Aug. 15.
