Kim Kapp
coordinating Vancouver Police restructured public information
program
Kim Kapp has been
appointed public information coordinator for the Vancouver
Police Department’s restructured public information program.
Until the appointment was
made, communications with the community and the news media came
through a uniformed police officer, most recently Lt.
Marla Schuman.
Kapp has been with the
Vancouver Police Department for the past seven years. She has
had previous experience in television and radio.
Kapp will report directly
to Vancouver’s chief, Brian
Martinek.
According to Martinek,
“The voice and the face of the agency will be represented by
many members of the Vancouver Police Department including all
levels of the chain of command.”
Memorial service for
Charles Mage is 1 p.m. Tuesday in East Vancouver Methodist
Church
A memorial service for
Charles Mage, who died at
the age of 88 Saturday, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in
the East Vancouver Methodist United Church, 5701 MacArthur
Boulevard.
Mr. Mage, a retired sales
engineer whose territory for plywood industry machinery
stretched from western Canada to Mexico, had been a Vancouver
resident for the past 45 years. Mr. Mage loved music and the
arts. As a vocalist in Tacoma he made several recordings of
popular music. He was also a bowler and trout fisher.
Survivors include his
wife of 62 years, Betty,
two daughters, Sandra Fretag,
Afton, Wyo., and Ronna Leggett,
Reno, a son, Gary,
Vancouver, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to
the Council for the Homeless.
Home and Garden Idea
Fair, region’s largest plant sale, showcases energy conservation
Clark Public Utilities
Home and Garden Idea Fair, opening at 9 a.m. Friday, April 23,
at the Clark County Fairgrounds, is backed by 80 nurseries,
making it the largest plant sale in the Vancouver-Portland
region.
The three-day event
showcases energy conservation, including a zero energy home that
produces more energy than it uses for non-heating purposes, and
a display of Toyota gasoline-electric hybrid cars. The Toyota
Prius hybrid was named 2004
Motor Trend Car of the Year.
The show is free, but
donations of canned food are encouraged. Parking is $3.

Dan Gufrey, who twice
last year was named Employee of the Month by C-TRAN, has been
selected as C-TRAN’s Employee of the Year for 2003. Gufrey, who
joined C-TRAN in 1996, is supervisor of C-TRAN’s dial-a-ride
service, The Connector. The Connector serves east Clark County
employers and residents by providing connecting service to the
Fishers Landing Transit Center.
