computer classes
Free computer classes
offered by the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District at the
Vancouver Community Library, 1007 E Mill Plain Boulevard, cover
basic information related to e-mail, the Internet, and personal
computers.
The next class, which is
on personal computers, is 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15.
Although there is no
charge, pre-registration is required. For further information,

Developers to discuss eastside activity
The Columbia River
Economic development Council has assembled a panel of movers,
shakers and developers with a stake in east Vancouver and Clark
County to provide a preview of future plans for commercial,
industrial and residential development for that emerging center
of activity.
The panel consists of

director of leasing for Columbia Tech Center,
Jim Edwards, vice
president of Bircher Development,
Mark Hinton, president,
Hinton Development, Tom Shipler,
president, Camas Meadows Corporate Center, and
Kevin Wann, president,

given during a 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27, quarterly investor

RSV Construction
working on
2nd Boston’s Gourmet Pizza
A second Boston’s Gourmet
Pizza is being built by RSV Construction Services on 117th
Avenue in Orchards. The new full-service restaurant and sports
bar will be nearly identical to the first 5,600-square-foot
building on NE 164th Avenue near Regal Cascade 16 Cinemas.
Joe Loftgren,
managing partner of OR-CAN, says the franchise’s rapid
expansion is a sign of confidence in the Vancouver area.
There are 200 Boston’s
Gourmet Pizzas in North America, two of which are in Spokane,
and as many as four more planned for the Vancouver area.
Skills Center students
awarded WAVE scholarships
Rachel Justus,
Amanda Crawford and
Tasha Ogden received
scholarships from the Washington Award for Vocational Excellence
program of the Washington State Workforce Training and Education
Coordinating Board.
Justus is a Ridgefield
High School senior enrolled in the Skills Center’s Applied
Science program. Crawford is a Hudson’s Bay High School Senior
enrolled in the Construction Technology Program, and Ogden is a
Fort Vancouver High School senior also enrolled in the Applied
Medical Sciences Program.
Three WAVE recipients are
chosen from each legislative district by a selection committee
comprised of representatives from business, labor, education,
the Legislature and interested citizens. Selection criteria
include occupational proficiency, leadership, community
activities, work experience, character, attitude, attendance and
other qualities.
The Washington State
Legislature established the WAVE to honor students for
outstanding achievement in vocational-technical education. For
