Evergreen Community Festival and parade provide eastside
community weekend fun
Bud Passmore is grand
marshal of the Evergreen Community Festival parade, one of Clark
County’s biggest parades, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, May
8, from the Wy’east Middle School, 1500 SE 136th Avenue, and
proceeds south to McGillivray Boulevard, then east to Blairmont
Drive and then north to Mountain View High School.
Preceding the parade, a
continental breakfast is available at Wy’east from 7 to 10 a.m.
Day-long activities at
Mountain View, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., include a craft
and antique show, petting zoo, bicycle rodeo, live music, and a
food court.
JD White Company
expanding
Richard Nardine has been
appointed senior public involvement project manager for the JD
White Company, Vancouver-based natural resources planning and
public involvement facilitation firm. Nardine is an
award-winning copywriter and Web developer.
Edward Strohmaier has
been named wetland ecologist for the firm. Strohmaier is a
member of the Society of Wetland Scientists and the American
Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
Larry Cassidy keynoter
for Sammy Awards
Vancouver’s
Larry Cassidy, chair of
the Pacific Salmon Commission, will be the keynote speaker at
the Clark County Sammy Awards ceremony, 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday,
May 20, in the Water Resources Education Center.
Sammy Awards are
presented annually to individuals and organizations for
salmon-friendly business practices, including habitat
restoration projects and education and outreach efforts.
Cassidy, a former member
of the Washington State Game Commission, is also a member of the
Northwest Power Conservation Council.
Saturday Tea to raise
funds
for Red Cross youth programs
Featuring a traditional
English menu, including dessert, the second annual American Red
Cross tea in the Clark County Historical Museum, 11511 Main
Street, Saturday, May 8, is a fund raiser for local Red Cross
youth programs.
The $20 tea will be in
two sittings, noon and 3:30 p.m. The tea is catered by Applewood
Northwest Cuisine and Catering. Music is by a Vancouver School
of Arts and Academics string quartet. For further information,

Fair to audition
anthem singers
The Clark County Fair
Association is seeking individuals and groups to audition to
sing the national anthem at the beginning of each grandstand
show during the 2004 county fair. Last year, 60 people
auditioned.
Open auditions will be
held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 21. The ten-day fair runs August
6 through 15.
