Hanging flower baskets
go up on Main Street
As they have for the past
three years, the Design Committee of Vancouver’s Downtown
Association is putting up 200 hanging baskets on Main Street,
both in downtown and uptown.
Volunteers from Hudson’s
Bay High School grew the flowers in the campus greenhouse and
Monday began installing the 85-pound baskets. They will be at
street corners between 6th Street and Fourth Plain Boulevard.
This year Wells Fargo
Bank has joined the Rotary Club of Vancouver as a signature
sponsor of the decorative project. The Clark County Juvenile
Justice System is also a sponsor.
The Design Committee is
also responsible for the Façade Improvement Program, storefront
art galleries, downtown directional signs, district street
signs, and “Welcome to Vancouver monument” signs.
The committee is also
spearheading a proposal to convert downtown Main Street to
two-way traffic.
