Patricia Nierenberg Child Care &
Early Learning Center dedication Tuesday
The Patricia Nierenberg
Child Care & Early Learning Center, with 100 children already
enrolled, opens officially during a 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 15,
public dedication ceremony at the site, 105 S Lieser Road.
The center is a
partnership among Southwest Washington Medical Center, the
Vancouver School District and Educational Service District 112.
Public financing for the center was spearheaded by
David and
Patricia Nierenberg. The
medical center contributed $2 million for construction.
In addition to providing
extended hours of child care, the center provides early
childhood learning opportunities through ESD 112 and offers
educational opportunities for district students interested in
careers in education.
The center is licensed
for 135 children at any one time, but rotating schedules and
extended hours of operation allow a higher number of children to
share enrollment slots.
The center primarily
serves employees of the medical center and the Vancouver School
District, but enrollment is open to other parents in the
community. A kindergarten program is also available.
