County fair national
anthem
performers announced
Fourteen groups and individuals, from 97 who
auditioned, have been selected to sing the national anthem
opening for main stage concerts during the Clark County Fair,
Friday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug. 15.

All-star football
talent set for Gateway Shrine Club’s 2nd annual Freedom Bowl
Classic
The kick-off for the second annual Shriners
Freedom Bowl Classic football players is at 7 p.m. Saturday,
July 10, in Kiggins Bowl, 900 NE 40th Street.
All-star players from southwest Washington
high schools have been divided into east and west teams. The
east team is represented by Mountain View, Evergreen, Camas,
Prairie, Washougal, Heritage, Stevenson and White Salmon High
Schools. The west team consists of players from Columbia River,
Skyview, La Center, Battle Ground, Hudson’s Bay, Fort Vancouver,
Ridgefield and Woodland High Schools.
Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for those 12

Kid’s archaeology dig
at the Fort Saturday
Forty youngsters, ranging in ages 8 to 12,
will be accepted for two archaeology digs at Fort Vancouver
Saturday, July 10.
Twenty youngsters will be accepted on a
first come, first served basis when the gates at the fort on E
Fifth Street open at 9 a.m.
Participants will rotate through several
activities, including excavating, filling out site forms,
drawing maps and screening. At the end of each session they will
discuss what they have discovered.
Another kid’s dig will be held Saturday,
July 24.
