Kimsey urges local citizens to get involved
in election issues through voters’ pamphlet
Citizens who have opinions they wish to
express on any of the issues which will be appearing on the
primary or general election ballots this year have until
Tuesday, July 20, to make requests to the appropriate
jurisdiction to express their opinions through a committee
writing for and against opinions to be printed in the local
voters’ pamphlet.
The deadline for submitting written
statements for the pamphlet is Tuesday, July 27.
According to Clark County auditor
Greg Kimsey, local
jurisdictions are required to appoint committees to produce for
and/or against statements which appear in the voters’ pamphlet.
However, Kimsey says, often his office
receives only supporting arguments for local ballot measures,
with no opposing statements included because the jurisdiction
has not found anyone opposing the measure.
Thus far, measures will be placed on primary
and general election ballots in Clark County submitted by The
City of Washougal, Fire Districts 3, 6, and 12, and the Battle
Ground, Camas and Ridgefield School Districts. Kimsey says Fire
District 10 has indicated it may place a measure on the primary
ballot.
For further information, call Kimsey,
397-2078, or Elections
supervisor Tim Likness,
397-2345.
