Southwest Washington Medical
Center taps woman oncologist
Magdolna Solti, a
medical oncologist and hematologist, has been appointed to a full-time position
with the Southwest Washington Medical Center’s Cancer Center.
Solti is board certified in internal medicine. Her
specialty areas include management of breast cancer, from diagnosis to
treatment, along with clinical trials and hematology.
Solti completed her residence in internal medicine at
Huron Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Health System, in Cleveland, Ohio. She
completed fellowships in hematology and medical oncology at Thomas Jefferson
University, Philadelphia, Pa.
The Southwest Washington Medical Center treats cancer at
every level, from prevention education, research, diagnosis, treatment, and
physical and emotional recovery.
Mixed-use development to come under
scrutiny at an open house this evening
An advisory committee working with the Clark County
Long-Range Planning Division to help develop an ordinance dealing with mixed-use
development unincorporated urban areas, is holding an open house at 6:30 p.m.
this evening in the Public Safety Complex, 505 NW 179th Street, Ridgefield.
The advisory committee, representative of neighborhood
organizations, developers and others interested in growth issues, is expected to
help the county draft rules for mixed-use land development under the recently
revised Comprehensive Growth Management Plan.

Universities explaining graduate
programs at WSU Vancouver tonight
Representatives of six universities, including Washington
State University Vancouver, are making presentations of their graduate programs
at 7 p.m. tonight in the Multimedia Classroom Building, room 6, WS Vancouver.

Kaiser Permanente expects to
end flu shot clinics Saturday
Kaiser Permanente today that, said if the demand for flu
shots remains at the current level, it will end flu vaccine clinics this week.
Monday, Kaiser clinics vaccinated 20,000 people at 12
medical offices, including those in Vancouver and Longview. Tuesday, the number
dropped to 9,000, according to Jan Weaver,
flu vaccine coordinator for Kaiser Permanente.
Weaver says that if the demand remains at the current
level, Kaiser will be out of the vaccine by Saturday.
County road atlas available for $22
The 27th edition of the Clark County Road Atlas is now
available from the Public Service Center GIS Map Store, 1300 Franklin Street.
The comprehensive, portable 9 by 11 3/4-inch atlas is produced by the Clark
County Department of Assessment and GIS.
The atlas is produced by using the latest in Geographic
Information Systems (GIS technology, according to Assessment and GIS
spokesperson Bob Pool. Aerial photography
and shaded relief are combined to produce a single image on a scale of one inch
equaling 2,000 feet. The GIS Map Store also has a wide variety of maps and
aerial photography for sale to the public.
