Jean C. Rahn named executive director
of medical center’s foundation

Jean C. Rahn, chief development officer of Colorado State University’s $185 foundation, has been appointed executive director of the Southwest Washington Medical Center Foundation.  In making the announcement today, SWMC president and CEO Joe Kortum said: “We are pleased to have someone of Jean’s stature and success at the medical center foundation. She brings a unique set of skills and experience to a key role in our organization. We will benefit from her successful track record in fundraising to help us meet the rapidly changing health care needs of our community.”

Over the past five years under Rahn’s leadership, the university saw its total gifts and grants increase from approximately $32 million to $45.6 million annually. Total assets increased from $147 million to $185 million in the same period.

Rahn has ties to Washington, having served as executive director of development for Western Washington University’s foundation, during which time gifts to the university increased from $680,000 to over $5.6 million a year.

Rahn earned a masters degree in education from Montana State University. She is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. A Rotarian, Rahn also served on the Fort Collins, Colo., Symphony board of directors.

The Southwest Washington Medical Center Foundation was established in 1986 with the sole purpose of raising and managing contributions on behalf of the medical center. The foundation is governed by a board of 24, headed by board chair David Kelly.

The foundation has raised funds in support of the SWMC Health Education Center, Healthy Steps Women’s and Children’s Clinic, the medical center chapel, a transitional living apartment for hospital inpatient rehabilitation use and the first Ray Hickey Hospice House.
