Steve Bernhoft joins First Independent
Bank as VP and chief financial officer

Steve Bernhoft has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer of First Independent Bank. Bernhoft will be responsible for accounting, budgeting and strategic forecasting for the bank.

Bernhoft is a certified public accountant and was with Moss Adams for the past 23 years. He is a graduate of the University of Washington.

Bernhoft is a member of the Vancouver School District Foundation board and a member of the Vancouver Rotary Club.

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In Battle Ground School District

Battle Ground School District voters who did not vote by absentee ballot will have from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, to cast ballots in polling places on two bond propositions aimed at modernizing and relieving overcrowding in one of the fastest growing school districts in the state.

If the larger of the two school bonds is approved, a $62,950,000 measure that would pay for construction of two new primary schools, two new middle schools and replacement of another school, then a second measure, $19,490,000 in bonds to build a new high school, would take effect, if it also passed.

Both measures require 60 percent voter majorities.

Plexsys Interface Products Inc,
relocating to Camas Meadows

Groundbreaking for the Plexsys Interface Products Inc. new headquarters in Camas Meadows Corporate Center is at 10 a.m. Wednesday March 9, at the site at NE Camas Meadows Drive and NW Alexander Court.

The high-tech Portland company, which provides modeling and simulation for aircraft and airspace control, is relocating its corporate headquarters from Portland to Clark County this summer.

Contractor for the 20,000-square-foot project is Robertson & Olson Construction Inc. Vancouver.

The software engineering company will have a staff of 30 when it opens in July.

Rosalyn Hart to receive Marshall Youth
award in Wednesday ceremony

The General George C. Marshall Youth Leadership Award will be presented to Rosalyn Hart by Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard in ceremonies at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, in the Marshall House on Officers Row.

The annual award is part of the Celebrate Freedom program honoring leadership and initiatives. Celebrate Freedom is a program of the Vancouver National Historic Reserve Trust in partnership with the City of Vancouver.

Hart is a Washougal High School student participating in the Clark College Running Start Program. When she graduates from high school this June, Hart will also receive an Associate in Arts Degree from the two-year community college.

Clark College choral groups
perform for free Thursday

The Clark College Women’s Choral Ensemble and the Clark College Vocal Jazz Ensemble present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in the Decker Theatre on the college campus.

While the concert is free, donations will be accepted at the door, the proceeds from which go toward music scholarships. April Duvic directs the choral ensemble and Janet Reiter directs the jazz ensemble.
