Shannon Decker has joined the Bank of Clark County as vice president and business relationship officer. Decker, who has 20 years of banking experience, most recently was an outside sales manager for Merchant Services. Decker is active in the community and is a member of Women in Action, the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce’s Ambassadors, and the Human Society of Southwest Washington. Heart Walk is Saturday Heart disease and stroke survivors, their families, friends and co-workers will be participating in two Heart Walks that begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, from Esther Short Park. The 1K and 5K walks are sponsored by the American Heart Association and, locally, by Legacy Health System, Southwest Washington Medical Center, Vancouver Clinic and Blackfish Creative, and Mix 107.5 FM There is no charge to participate in the walks. to be showcased Fire District 6’s annual open house, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the main station, 8800 NE Hazel Dell Avenue, will include demonstrations by fire district personnel, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Life Flight, Clark Regional Emergency Services, Vancouver Fire Department, and the American Red Cross. Children of all ages will be treated to fire engine rides, according to spokesperson Leah Edwards. Applebee's is providing free oriental chicken salads, and Cold Stone Creamery, free ice cream. Free Skin Cancer Screening Southwest Washington Medical Center’s annual free skin cancer screening is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in the medical center’s Same Day Services Department. The skin cancer screening program is one of several offered by the medical center’s Cancer Center that focus on cancer education, prevention, detection, treatment and support. News brief The Columbia Timbers premier soccer club last weekend won their first major soccer tournament of the year, the Rainier Challenge Soccer Tournament in Puyallup.
