Southwest Washington Medical Center's $146 million expansion information

Is the proposed project at our Daybreak property in the public interest? You decide.

All water rights will be donated to the state in trust for in-stream flow enhancement (an estimated total of 5% of the groundwater rights in the EFLR basin).

Call 397-2232 and let the commissioners know that
solid science and not politics must guide their decision regarding the project.

Vancouver School District provides
definitive Lewis and Clark website

Fascinating Lewis and Clark information for every age level is available to the public at the Vancouver School District’s Lewis and Clark iSpace website, www.vansd.org/lewisandclark.

Working with the Vancouver-Clark County Lewis and Clark Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Committee and other community partners, the district began in 2004 to assemble a website that provides teacher and teaching information, historical data, links to other Lewis and Clark resources, and children’s activities and games. In addition, the website lists scheduled Lewis and Clark commemorative events.

Lewis and Clark iSpace was developed by teachers, Mina Milligan, Lynn Schedler, Enid Huston, Ellen Weiss, and Dave Barber; media specialists Scott Lawrence, Ron Wagner, Lynn Harvey, Susan Bristow, Kate Burton, and Mark Ray; and district office specialists Lisa Greseth, Starla Manchester, Becky Hansel, Susan Neal, Kristin Bayless, Van Dang and Terry Nelson.

Property improvements may
require critical areas permits

Thousands of property owners in the City of Vancouver have been sent notices that any improvements on their property may be subject to new critical areas permits under the newly adopted Critical Areas Protection Ordinance, which became effective this month.

Critical areas are defined as wetlands, fish and wildlife habitat, frequently flooded areas, and geologic hazards. Property owners within a floodplain whose property contains a stream, is within a wetland, has a steep slope, or other regulated natural features were already regulated; but there are revisions to those requirements in the new ordinance.

Property owners may go to http://gis.clark.wa.gov/ccgis/mol/resource.htm to see maps describing their property in relationship to critical areas. Further information is also available by calling 619-1209.
