support developing The Clark County Republican Party executive board yesterday endorsed a .2 percent sales tax measure that would restore C-TRAN’s current and projected cuts in service, if approved by voters at the Tuesday, Sept. 20, primary election. The measure has generated strong bipartisan support in the cities and areas in Clark County where it is on the ballot. Earlier it was endorsed by the Clark County Democrats. Both Clark County commissioner Steve Stuart, a Democrat, and his Republican opponent in November, Tom Mielke, have endorsed the proposal. Other endorsers are commissioners Betty Sue Morris, board chair and a Democrat, and Republican Marc Boldt. In addition, the mayors of Vancouver, Battle Ground and La Center, Royce Pollard, John Idsinga andJames Irish are endorsers. According to Randy Mueller, one of the consultants to the Save C-TRAN campaign, more than 1,000 persons have volunteered to support the measure. Mueller adds, however, that the campaign is still seeking contributions to cover the cost of providing direct mail information pieces for voters. For further information about the campaign, call Mueller at 921-9314. Although the official election day is September 20, all election ballots will be mailed from the county Elections office at the end of August. Commissioners set
